Back in the News Year update, I told everyone, to get ready for a bright and exciting 2010.
Well I hope you're ready.
In Today's Update I installed a blog mod and there was a few things tweaked around the forum. (approximate update time was 6 hours).
Features of the Blog Mod:
# Cash is awarded for blog usage!
# Categories can be made with unlimited subcategories and branching.
# Each user has their own page to which they may post new blogs to.
# Comments can be made to blogs.
# Soft Delete - Blogs and Replies, when deleted, are first soft deleted. Administrators have a permission setting to allow them to permanently hard delete blogs and replies.
# Separated Templates. Allows you to very easily create or install separate templates for the User Blog Mod and allow users to select which templates they want shown for their blog. Using SQL Queries, I made a theme called "Coda" the main style for blogs. The style you use for the blog mod is changeable in the User Control panel. Current options are Milky Way Red, Blogger, and Coda.
# Users may rate blogs.
# User Permissions - Users can set permissions for other users on a global or per blog basis, letting them decide if they want the users to not see the blog, be able to see and read the blog, or be able to see, view, and reply to the blog. Users can set options for 4 "groups", Guests, Friends, Foes, and everyone else.
# Plugins System - Allows you to not only easily expand the features of the User Blog Mod by installing user made plugins, but it also makes it very easy to make your own custom plugins which add features for your own board without having to edit the core files every time you upgrade. Installing plugins is usually very simple, and can usually be done by just uploading some files to your phpBB3 forum and clicking the Install button in the User Blog Plugins ACP module. A screenshot of the Plugins ACP module is attached to this post (the exact look of the page is subject to change).
# Subscriptions - Users can subscribe to receive updates via PM or Email when a new reply is posted to a blog or a new blog is posted by a user.
# Feeds - RSS/ATOM/Javascript output feeds
# Search System - Users can search for text within blogs and blog replies (it is separate from the phpBB3 search system however).
# Attachments - An attachments system exactly like the one included with phpBB3.
# Polls - The same as polls for phpBB3.
# Per user/group permissions - Integrates with the phpBB3 permissions system and allows a lot of control over what users can and can not do.
Enjoy!

Update #2: Instead of launching the whole module, we're going to run a 2 Week BETA, during which time, games will NOT cost any money. The reason for this is, many games either do not work, or do not score properly, resulting in us loosing our Forum CAD. Go wild, and test out as many games as you can, those that do not work, please report them using the Report function on the side panel of the game! As a thanks for helping us out during this BETA, jackpot will remain 10CAD per game!
Like I promised, the arcade module has been installed, after a painful 8 hours of installation :]
Regularly, Each game costs 10 Forum CAD to play. When a user doesn't beat the game, their 10CAD goes to the jackpot. If you beat the game, you receive the 25CAD you paid, plus the current jackpot.
As you probably noticed, I also added a Political Parties menu bar which lists the forums & in-game links to the top 5 parties!
I have also figured out how to fix the [ $ ] placement on the menu bar!
Features of the Arcade Mod:
- Highscores
- Notification PM upon your Highscore being beaten! [Turn On/Off in User Control Panel]
- Ability to disable/enable settings/features of the Arcade Mod.
- Over 300 games spread out between 5 different categories!
- Leaderboards!
- Jackpots
- Favorites
- Advanced Search
- Jumplist
- New Game List
~ Enjoy!

A Political Party Drop down menu has been added to the forums/menu bar!
Using it you can get quick access to any parties forum, and their in-game link!
Enjoy,

First off, Happy New Year!
To begin, I'd like to share a part of an article I read this morning with you:

Well, it's just past Christmas. It's that time - it's New Years Eve, a time to go out, party, and get drunk for
seven hours straight. A time to be with friends, family, and yet again - forget all those bad times we had, and
turn them into good memories. A time to let everything out, and not think about what you're doing. A time to go
for that extra beer, just sitting there, all lonely. A time to still give more, and where giving is still better
than receiving.
New Years is like Christmas' little brother. You don't get presents, but it's the same concept - a time to be
with friends and family and have good times together. It's also a time to remember the year for what it's been,
and say a genuine thank you and goodbye, for all the good times this year has brought year. What has this year
brought?
On that note, I'd like to give eCanada a little Forum Update, as a starting point for the year to come.
In tonight's update:
- Multiple Bug Fixes (And I'm talking ALOT)
- IE6 Menu Bar Compatibility Issue Resolved (Go to User Control Panel, Select the IE6 Milky Way Red Compatibility Theme
- You now have the ability to enable/disable the Snowstorm Feature on ANY theme! Just go to the User Control Panel, and select one of the themes, along with _snowstorm. By default, snowstorm will be disabled!
- Portal Updates
- Biggest of All, the new Cash/Points Mod, with lots of new features, including but not limited to a Bank Module, Logs Module, Lottery Module, and a Robbery Module. Statistics are available at the bottom of the page in the statistics bar, and all of the other modules can be found by clicking the Canadian Dollars link on the menu bar!
Expect some more updates soon eCanada!
And get ready for a bright, and exciting 2010.
Happy New Year,
Good night,

A Few Updates
I was "exploring" the ACP earlier today and I came across many new features which I had not seen before. Apparently PHPBB likes to hide modules, anyways:
- Attachments
Many of you probably find it annoying going to imageshack and uploading a picture just to post it on the forum, well now, you can just upload those screenshots or files directly onto the forum! Take note, the attachment bar will not show up in quick reply, you must hit reply or new topic to use it!
- Group Leaders
I always knew there were some underlying features for Group Leaders, but after tweaking with settings all Group Leaders can now manage the members of their groups. All you have to do is go to User Control Panel, Usergroups, then Manage Groups. Take note, earlier today I updated all group leaders!
- Who can grant me my Party Leader Mask?
If you're wondering who can grant you the mask you need just go to the group on the legend and find out who your group leader is!
"He isn't responding to my PMs"
We're sorry to hear that, but now you know which admins to contact for any forum issues you're experiencing!
viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4312
- Why is my name grey, I want the Congressional color to show up!
Well now you can change that right in the User Control Panel. Check out Usergroups, and Edit memberships!
